Reiki pronounced ' Ray-Key' is a natural healing energy developed in Japan in early 1900 by Dr Mikao Usui (image below). This was developed as a means of self-healing and spiritual development and was also used as a way of healing others.
How Does Reiki work?
The Roots Inner Healing practitioner channels this natural healing energy through their hands to the recipient, activating the body's natural ability to heal itself. This Reiki energy works on every level, not just physical, and promotes the body's self-healing mechanisms.
Before any treatment with a Roots Inner Healing practitioner, a client will be asked to complete a Client Consultation form. This form will ask some basic medical history questions and what their personal intentions are for the treatment ahead. It is usually advised that clients refrain from a heavy meal at least one hour prior to the treatment and limit intake of caffeine and nicotine. A client will not be treated if the Roots Inner Healing practitioner suspects the use of alcohol or drugs prior to the treatment.
The Reiki Treatment
Reiki is a very simple, non-intrusive and extremely powerful process . A treatment session can last anywhere from 30 minutes to one and a half hours. It is usually done with the recipient lying down, fully clothed, on a massage couch or sitting on a comfortable chair. The Roots Inner Healing practitioner gently places their hands in various positions over the whole body. Each position is then held for several minutes as the whole body is treated, this enables the energy to go right to the source of the imbalance and not just to where the symptoms are.
So, what will I experience during my treatment?
You will generally feel a very pleasant sensation of warmth, coolness, mild tingling or maybe nothing at all in the area being touched. As the energy comes into balance, stress and tension are released and there is a sense of relaxation and well being. You may even fall asleep!!
How many treatments will I need?
Even one treatment session of Reiki may make a difference. However, a course of regular treatments may be more effective. Therefore a bespoke treatment plan can be discussed between you and the Roots Inner Healing practitioner. This will always be subject to your own preferences and can be weekly, fortnightly or less often, depending on your individual needs.
Aftercare
It is advised that after any Reiki treatment you should rest and drink plenty of water to aid the detoxification process.
