Working for Spirit and not the Ego

After having the opportunity to read for friends and colleagues, I felt that it is very easy to let the alter ego step forward and think "I can do this, I'll just start doing readings professionally" . Whilst this may be a wonderful thing to do and of course some monetary gain for your skills, it is essential to keep things in check and step back and really look at what is motivating you!

 

 

Is it purely the love of working for spirit or is it something else?

Personally, I feel that working with and for spirit is something that is encompassed into your day to day life and listening to your inner spirit is essential for true development. I myself have been swept away by the ego, especially when people ask when and how much are your readings and "oh, we can have a Psychic Reading party at my house, just say a date" What people do not realise is that there is so much more to developing these skills and conducting a reading than just simply tapping into a library of infinite wisdom that you as a medium must hold!!! I feel that it takes years of dedicated development, coupled with meditation, trust, self belief and of course unconditional love to be able to create a pure link with devine spirit.

Mis-Interpretation of Information

When developing medium and psychic skills one of the things that I have encountered when conducting a reading is not passing on correct information or mis-interpretation. This may happen when what you believe to be correct information is your own interpretation rather than that of spirit's. For example, saying what you have exactly seen, felt, heard and trusting spirit, whether or not it makes any sense to you and passing that information on to the recipient. Lack of appropriate training and meditation can also have a lot to with it and what frame of mind you are in when you are conducting a reading can have a huge infludence on the final outcome.  

Importance of Patience and Continuing Self Development

Through my learning I believe that it takes real patience and many years to develop as a medium before becoming truly confident to work with spirit effectively, to pass on correct information and to deal with the ups and downs of the emotions and energy from the recipient and yourself. This may appear to be a really long time especially when the ego steps in after a few correct readings and says "I can do this" but development is really a journey of life experience and where you are within your own development as a person not just with spirit.

 Responsibility is in your hands

As my career developmentment has been one in teaching, counselling and advising, I believe in the importance of effective listening and clear communication. I feel that the same applies for conducting readings and understanding whether that particular recipient would be better suited for a healing session rather than a psychic or mediumship reading. Being able to adapt to the situation is very important as what that particular person may require, may be outwith your remit and therefore better suited to a professional counsellor, for example, especially when there has been a recent bereavement or trauma in that person's life. Realising that you can not mend that person's life and somethings truly are outwith your control, even when the recipient sitting accross from you is expecting life changing guidance and mentoring from you and spirit.
